About the Role
Wema Bank Plc is recruiting a dynamic and vigilant Monitoring & Incident Response Officer to strengthen our cybersecurity posture across our expanding network. Operating a robust ICT platform, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of information security, corporate governance, and risk management. As part of our 24x7 Security Operations Centre (SOC), you will play a critical role in safeguarding our digital assets, customer data, and financial infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor security alerts and events generated by SIEM, EDR, PAM, and other advanced cybersecurity tools.
- Investigate and triage suspected security incidents, determining severity, scope, and potential business impact.
- Perform comprehensive incident response activities, including analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Escalate critical security incidents in accordance with established incident response processes and playbooks.
- Conduct thorough phishing, malware, and suspicious activity investigations across hybrid environments.
- Analyze logs from operating systems, applications, network devices, and cloud platforms to identify threats.
- Support CyberArk Privileged Access Management (PAM) monitoring and investigate privileged-user activities.
- Monitor Microsoft Sentinel and other platforms to identify indicators of compromise and endpoint anomalies.
- Leverage threat intelligence feeds and the MITRE ATT&CK framework to improve threat detection.
- Document incident findings, root causes, and actions taken while maintaining accurate SOC dashboards and reports.
- Participate in shift-based 24x7 security operations coverage to ensure continuous enterprise protection.
- Collaborate with IT, Infrastructure, Risk, Compliance, and business teams during remediation efforts.
- Bachelor degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 0 to 2 years of professional experience in a Security Operations Centre (SOC), Incident Response, or IT security role.
- Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, Microsoft Sentinel, CyberArk PAM, and Active Directory.
- Preferred professional certifications include CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, Microsoft SC-200, BTL1, or HTB CDSA.
- Strong analytical mindset with a passion for defensive cybersecurity and continuous learning.
