About the Role
The Institute of Genomics and Global Health (IGH) is a pioneering research institute advancing public health in Africa through cutting-edge genomics. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Lead for our STRIDE (Scientific Training and Research in Infectious Disease Genomics and Entrepreneurship) Program. In this remote role with periodic travel to Ede, Osun State, you will design and implement a comprehensive MEL framework to track progress, measure impact, and drive continuous learning across a pan-African workforce development initiative training 5,100 young scientists.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, implementation, and refinement of STRIDE’s MEL framework, aligning with program objectives, theory of change, and donor requirements.
- Define results frameworks, indicators, and data collection tools to support adaptive management and strategic decision-making.
- Oversee quantitative and qualitative data collection, quality assurance, analysis, and synthesis across consortium partners and countries.
- Translate MEL findings into actionable insights, high-quality reports, dashboards, and learning products for internal leadership, partners, and donors.
- Strengthen MEL capacity across the program through technical guidance, coaching, and facilitation of learning processes.
- Serve as the primary MEL focal point for engagement with consortium partners and external evaluators.
- Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Health, Epidemiology, Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible MEL experience for complex, multi-year, multi-partner programs in global health or higher education.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing MEL systems, theories of change, data collection tools, and managing donor-funded grant requirements.
- Strong technical background in applying quantitative and qualitative research methods, mixed-methods analysis, and data visualisation tools.
- Exceptional analytical, writing, and presentation skills with a collaborative working style suited for diverse, multi-country stakeholder engagement.
