About the Role
Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a global health nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and building stronger health systems in developing nations. Since 1971, we have worked in over 150 countries to address priority health challenges, ranging from infectious diseases to maternal and child health. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring robust data quality management, routine data collection, and accurate reporting at state, LGA, and community levels to drive impactful public health interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Support the M&E Manager in implementing core M&E activities, including comprehensive data collection, rigorous quality checks, and timely reporting.
- Build the capacity of local government area (LGA) and health facility M&E officers in advanced data quality management practices.
- Provide technical support and actively participate in monthly LGA data validation meetings.
- Conduct routine and quarterly data quality assessments (DQA) across primary and secondary health facilities.
- Review monthly health facility data proactively to identify, document, and resolve data quality discrepancies prior to official reporting.
- Develop robust follow-up action plans to ensure all identified data gaps are systematically addressed.
- Collaborate with the MERL Manager to collate, analyze, and present program data during stakeholder review meetings.
- Represent MSH in vital technical fora, including M&E Sub-committee meetings and relevant health sector working groups.
- Bachelor degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Post-graduate degree in Medical Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated expertise and deep understanding of health M&E systems within the Nigerian context.
- Proven familiarity with modern data validation tools and extensive hands-on experience using DHIS2.
- Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Excel and statistical software packages such as Stata, SPSS, or R.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong record in professional report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex program data, work well under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
