About the Role
HBM Nigeria Plc (Formerly Lafarge), a global leader in building solutions, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mobile Plant Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and haul trucks, to support our comprehensive quarry and cement production operations across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy mobile equipment safely and efficiently in challenging terrain and fast-paced environments.
- Comply strictly with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, conducting pre-job hazard analyses and maintaining safe working conditions.
- Perform routine mechanical inspections, minor servicing, machine lubrication, and equipment housekeeping.
- Transport raw materials effectively from the quarry to crushing plants, stockpiles, and tipping areas.
- Interpret verbal and non-verbal instructions, including hand signals from ground personnel, and maintain accurate operational logbooks.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant post-qualification experience operating heavy mobile plants, preferably within the cement or construction industry.
- Possession of a relevant academic degree, equivalent qualification, or a recognized Trade Test certification and license.
- Strong knowledge of machine systems, safety regulations, and basic troubleshooting procedures.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
