About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Consult, assess, diagnose, and treat patients in outpatient departments with acute and chronic conditions
  • Conduct daily ward rounds, admit and manage inpatients, write progress notes and discharge summaries
  • Provide emergency care including first-line stabilization, resuscitation, and effective patient triage
  • Perform minor procedures including suturing, IV cannulation, catheterization, lumbar puncture, and wound care

Patient Management:

  • Order and interpret investigations including laboratory tests, imaging, and ECG
  • Make appropriate specialist referrals and monitor patient outcomes
  • Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventive care
  • Participate in antenatal, postnatal, and child welfare clinics as assigned

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records
  • Ensure proper prescription and billing documentation
  • Adhere to infection control and MDCN ethical guidelines
  • Participate in clinical audits and continuing medical education

Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and specialists for coordinated care
  • Supervise House Officers and interns
  • Participate in on-call duties and public health programs
Qualifications
  • MBBS or MBChB from a recognized medical school
  • Full registration and current practicing license with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
  • Minimum 3-5 years post-NYSC clinical experience
  • Valid NYSC completion certificate
  • Strong clinical and emergency management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
