About the Role
St Dominic Catholic Hospital is a reputable 64-bed faith-based healthcare institution committed to practicing evidence-based medicine while upholding strict Catholic and medical ethics. We are currently seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic laboratory team in providing exceptional primary and secondary medical services to our patients in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, properly label, and process patient specimens following standard operating procedures.
- Perform routine diagnostic investigations in hematology, microbiology, parasitology, chemistry, and serology.
- Prepare necessary reagents, stains, and various laboratory materials for daily testing procedures.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment adhering to biosafety regulations.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous laboratory waste according to guidelines.
- Accurately record and document all laboratory results to support effective patient care.
- Collaborate seamlessly with medical laboratory scientists and other healthcare professionals.
- Hold a diploma or certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or a closely related field.
- Possess a valid professional certification and practicing license where applicable.
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience within a hospital or diagnostic setting is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention, biosafety practices, and quality control standards.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong record-keeping abilities, and effective communication skills.
