About the Role
American Christian Academy (ACA) is a leading Christian international K–12 school in Ibadan, Nigeria, dedicated to academic excellence, character development, and holistic education. We are currently seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic science department. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering an engaging learning environment by supporting our Biology, Chemistry, and Physics teachers with day-to-day practical lessons and laboratory activities.
Key Responsibilities- Support Biology, Chemistry, and Physics teachers with practical lessons and laboratory activities.
- Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and resources for classes and practical sessions.
- Assist with setting up, conducting, and clearing practical activities efficiently.
- Ensure laboratory equipment and materials are properly handled, stored, and maintained.
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and well-organized practical science lessons.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment at all times.
- Monitor laboratory supplies and report shortages, damaged equipment, or other concerns.
- Carry out other duties related to laboratory and science department support as required.
- B.Sc. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Microbiology.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in laboratory work, teaching, or a related science role.
- Strong knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with a particular strength in Physics.
- Practical laboratory experience and confidence working with standard science equipment and materials.
- Prior experience teaching at the A-Level is an added advantage.
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with teachers and students.
- Responsible, highly detail-oriented, and committed to rigorous safety standards.
- Must currently reside in Ibadan (note: no accommodation or relocation support is provided).
