About the Role
Federal University Lafia, a fast-growing institution committed to academic and healthcare excellence, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team in Lafia, Nasarawa State. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting medical diagnostics, research, and student learning within our expanding health facilities. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about public health and eager to contribute to the mission of increasing access to quality healthcare and education in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine laboratory tests and analyses in hematology, microbiology, chemical pathology, and blood transfusion.
- Prepare biological specimens and samples for accurate testing and microscopic examination.
- Maintain, calibrate, and sterilize laboratory equipment and instruments following strict safety protocols.
- Record test results accurately and manage laboratory inventory of reagents and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and infection control standards within the laboratory environment.
- Assist medical doctors and senior researchers in clinical investigations and practical training sessions.
- Possession of West African Senior School Certificate (WASC) or Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
- Completion of an accredited three (3) year training program for the Technician Cadre.
- Valid registration and current practicing license with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology of Nigeria (IMLTN).
- Demonstrated ability to handle laboratory equipment with precision and adhere to medical ethics.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary academic and medical team.
