About the Role
Hartwell Hospital, a specialist healthcare facility with renowned cardiovascular expertise, is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our diagnostic laboratory team. You will perform essential clinical tests to diagnose a broad range of conditions and diseases, ensuring accurate results that directly impact patient care and treatment decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks
- Prepare and analyze specimens using manual and automatic laboratory equipment
- Perform routine diagnostic tests following standard procedures and formulas
- Label, store, and maintain specimens with meticulous attention to detail
- Prepare stains, reagents, and solutions according to laboratory protocols
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment and glassware
- Communicate test results to medical personnel and maintain detailed records
- Provide technical advice to doctors, nurses, and clinical staff
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HIPAA regulations, and relevant healthcare laws
- Safeguard patient data and maintain strict confidentiality standards
- Medical Laboratory Science diploma or university degree
- Valid registration with the appropriate professional board (with yearly renewal)
- Proven experience working in a clinical laboratory or related healthcare setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of specimen collection techniques and medical laboratory terminology
- HIPAA compliance certification and understanding
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of basic office procedures
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
