About the Role
Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital (GOUNITH), formerly Ntasi Obi Hospital, is a premier healthcare institution dedicated to medical excellence, education, and compassionate patient care. We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Lab Scientist with a specialization in Histopathology to join our dynamic laboratory department. In this vital role, you will perform complex tissue analyses, support cutting-edge medical research, and contribute to accurate patient diagnoses within a multidisciplinary academic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialized histopathological processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining of tissue specimens.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot sophisticated laboratory equipment and ensure strict quality control standards.
- Ensure accurate documentation and prompt reporting of test results to support clinicians in patient management.
- Participate in departmental research initiatives and assist in training medical students and junior laboratory staff.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards within the laboratory.
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) degree from a recognized institution.
- Valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Current registration and a valid practicing license with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria (IMLSN).
- Minimum of 4 years of cognate post-qualification experience in a reputable hospital or diagnostic facility.
