About the Role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja, a premier 500-bed specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking a dedicated Medical Gas Plant Engineer. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the operational integrity, maintenance, and safety compliance of our medical gas pipeline systems (MGPS) and associated plants, directly supporting world-class oncology, cardiovascular, and emergency care services in Abuja, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain medical gas production plants including VPSA plants, medical air compressors, vacuum pumps, and manifold systems.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, servicing, and testing of all medical gas equipment in compliance with global standards.
  • Perform regular purity testing of medical gases and maintain accurate engineering logs, maintenance records, and compliance certificates.
  • Act as the primary responder to medical gas system alarms, alerts, and emergency situations across the facility.
  • Manage cylinder storage, bulk tank levels, changeover procedures, and coordinate with third-party engineering contractors.
  • Lead project management for MGPS upgrades, extensions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Valid professional engineering certification, such as COREN membership.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in operating and maintaining complex engineering or medical gas plants.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-pressure pipeline systems, medical gas production, and alarm monitoring technologies.
  • Strong understanding of international safety regulations and quality standards governing medical gases.
