University of Ilesa - UNILESA Teaching Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced medical professionals for the position of Medical Consultant - Ophthalmology. Formed by the Osun State government through the strategic upgrading of the historic Ilesa General Hospital, our institution is committed to delivering exceptional tertiary healthcare, advancing medical education, and conducting cutting-edge clinical research. We are seeking a dedicated ophthalmologist to lead eye care services, train the next generation of physicians, and contribute to our expanding clinical departments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialized ophthalmological care and advanced surgical treatments to patients at the teaching hospital.
- Supervise, mentor, and train resident doctors, medical students, and other allied healthcare professionals.
- Participate in departmental clinical audits, academic meetings, and institutional research initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient management and improved clinical outcomes.
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of policies aimed at enhancing eye health services within the region.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere strictly to professional ethics and hospital standards.
- Possess a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Hold a postgraduate fellowship in Ophthalmology (e.g., FWACS, FMCoph, or equivalent registrable qualification with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria).
- Current practicing license and evidence of good standing with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Demonstrated clinical expertise and a strong background in ophthalmic surgery and patient management.
- Prior experience in an academic or teaching hospital environment is highly desirable.
