Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized ophthalmological care and advanced surgical treatments to patients at the teaching hospital.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train resident doctors, medical students, and other allied healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in departmental clinical audits, academic meetings, and institutional research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient management and improved clinical outcomes.
  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of policies aimed at enhancing eye health services within the region.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere strictly to professional ethics and hospital standards.

Qualifications
  • Possess a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Hold a postgraduate fellowship in Ophthalmology (e.g., FWACS, FMCoph, or equivalent registrable qualification with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria).
  • Current practicing license and evidence of good standing with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise and a strong background in ophthalmic surgery and patient management.
  • Prior experience in an academic or teaching hospital environment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
