About the Role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join its Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Nigeria. This role is central to delivering efficient, accurate, and compassionate support to migrants undergoing health assessments as part of IOM's broader mission to promote humane and orderly migration.

As a Medical Assistant, you will be assigned to either the reception and data processing unit or the call centre, providing essential administrative and customer service support. You will play a key role in ensuring migrants receive timely, accurate information about health assessment procedures while maintaining the highest standards of data accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide migrants with information regarding health assessments via phone and email
  • Register migrants in the IOM database, schedule and confirm medical appointments
  • Prepare master lists of migrants scheduled for health assessments and submit them to relevant service providers
  • Maintain daily statistics related to health assessments and update records accordingly
  • Contribute to customer satisfaction evaluation and management
  • Receive applicants, explain registration processes, and verify applicant identity
  • Enter biodata into appropriate platforms and capture applicant photos using approved equipment
  • Print medical forms, consent forms, and other required documentation
  • Receive and log completed medical examination forms, x-rays, and documents from Country Offices or Panel Physicians
  • Prepare, sort, and package medical files during mobile migration health assessment missions
  • Transmit completed medical forms and documents electronically or via courier services
  • Ensure accuracy of contacts and addresses for courier transmissions and share tracking information
  • File incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, and medical documents
  • Check, print, and photocopy bank deposit slips and submit to the Administrative/Finance Assistant
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • University Degree in Computer Science, IT, Statistics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, OR Secondary School Diploma with at least four years of relevant experience
  • Certificate in IT/Data Entry is an advantage
  • Experience in computer data entry, data analysis, or call centre operations, preferably in a medical setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and prior secretarial or archival experience is an advantage
  • Previous experience with NGOs or international organizations is an advantage
  • High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office is mandatory
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines
  • Willingness to accept a flexible work schedule
