About the Role
Concern on Climate Change for the Community Initiative (FOURCi) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Media Assistant to support our communication and advocacy efforts in the North East region (Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states). FOURCi is a non-profit organization comprised of academics, environmentalists, agricultural experts, health professionals, and community volunteers united to safeguard our climate future. Our key thematic interventions span climate education, sustainable livelihoods, climate-smart agriculture, gender-based violence protection, nutrition, environmental sustainability, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). As a Media Assistant, you will play a crucial role in amplifying our mission, documenting field activities, and engaging diverse stakeholders across various digital and traditional media platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of communication and media strategies to support FOURCi projects in the BAY states.
- Create engaging multimedia content including photographs, videos, and graphic designs for social media platforms, newsletters, and reports.
- Draft, edit, and proofread press releases, blog posts, advocacy messages, and website content highlighting our thematic focuses.
- Monitor media channels and climate change discussions to identify relevant trends, opportunities, and potential PR opportunities.
- Support the documentation of community outreach programs, workshops, and field interventions through professional media coverage.
- Maintain and update the organization media database, photo archives, and social media analytics reports.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications outputs.
- Minimum of a Ordinary National Diploma (OND), National Certificate in Education (NCE), or Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Proven experience in content creation, social media management, or digital marketing, preferably within the non-profit or development sector.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex environmental issues into engaging stories.
- Proficiency in using content creation tools, graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and video editing applications.
- Familiarity with the socio-cultural and geographical context of North East Nigeria is a distinct advantage.
