About the Role
Prima Corporation Limited is the leading manufacturer of preforms and caps in West Africa, dedicated to serving the beverage industry with excellence since 1965. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Technician - PET Preform Specialist to join our dynamic manufacturing plant in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing advanced industrial packaging equipment and high-speed mechanical systems to maximize plant uptime and optimize production cycles.
Key Responsibilities- Execute planned preventative maintenance (PM) schedules on Husky and SACMI IPS 400 injection molding machinery to minimize unscheduled downtime.
- Troubleshoot and isolate root causes of complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and servo-driven system failures under tight production deadlines.
- Calibrate, service, and repair high-speed robotic take-out mechanisms, including Husky CoolPik systems and SACMI belt-free linear motor assemblies.
- Perform multi-cavity PET mold changes ranging from 32 to 128+ cavities while ensuring precise mechanical alignment and platen parallelism.
- Monitor, calibrate, and maintain resin drying and mold enclosure dehumidification systems to prevent PET hydrolysis and condensation.
- Enforce strict workplace safety protocols, including corporate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and document all interventions within the plant CMMS software.
- High school diploma, technical trade apprenticeship, or an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of hands-on mechanical experience in high-volume industrial manufacturing, specifically with PET preform injection molding equipment.
- Deep proficiency with high-pressure hydraulics, pneumatics, servo-variable pumps, and structural tool mechanics.
- Proven expertise in managing high-capacity desiccant resin dryers, mold dehumidifiers, and industrial water chillers.
- Physical capability to lift heavy mechanical components, climb access ladders, and work effectively in a warm industrial manufacturing environment.
