About the Role
Join BIC Nigeria, Africa's premier agribusiness company, as a Mechanical Technician responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of pen packaging machines. You will ensure optimal machine performance, minimize production downtime, maintain product quality, and support continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to safety and manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and preventive maintenance of pen packaging machines
- Diagnose mechanical faults and execute corrective maintenance to minimize production downtime
- Troubleshoot issues related to packaging mechanisms, conveyors, feeding systems, sealing units, carton packing units, and labelling systems
- Support predictive maintenance through condition monitoring and comprehensive equipment inspections
- Repair or replace defective machine components including bearings, chains, belts, gears, cams, shafts, guides, and pneumatic elements
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with company safety regulations and LOTO procedures
- Perform alignment and calibration of pen feeding systems and transfer mechanisms for accurate product positioning
- Minimum OND or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field
- 2–5 years hands-on experience in pen packaging maintenance or pen manufacturing
- Proficiency with high-speed packaging machinery and workshop equipment (lathe, grinding machines)
- Strong knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, and pneumatic systems
- Expertise in pen alignment mechanisms and feeding system optimization
- Ability to inspect and optimize pen flow for consistent machine performance
