About the Role
Benin-Asaba Expressway Concession Company Limited is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineer to play a pivotal role in completing, operating, and maintaining 125 km of federal highway under the HDMI programme in Nigeria. In this critical position, you will spearhead our mechanical asset management strategy to ensure the utmost reliability, safety, and optimal performance of our heavy machinery, production plants, and toll plaza infrastructure across all operational sites.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs our Mechanical Engineer, you will drive excellence across maintenance operations by executing the following core duties:
- Develop and implement comprehensive mechanical asset management strategies to maximize asset availability and lifecycle value.
- Oversee operational readiness and maintenance for asphalt plants, batching plants, excavators, graders, pavers, and other heavy construction equipment, ensuring 90-95% availability targets.
- Implement preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures and execute effective corrective actions.
- Manage technical relationships, service contracts, and negotiations with OEMs and third-party contractors.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary mechanical engineering teams across various operational sites.
- Ensure stringent compliance with company HSE policies, statutory regulations, and mechanical safety audits.
To qualify for this exciting career opportunity with us in Nigeria, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance, plant operations, or infrastructure asset management.
- Strong expertise in managing asphalt plants, batching plants, and heavy construction machinery.
- Proficiency in reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional team management skills.
- Current registration with COREN is a strong advantage.
