About the Role
Nxtra by Airtel is developing advanced, hyper-scale, and energy-efficient data centres across Africa. For our premier facility in Lagos, Nigeria, we are seeking a visionary Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) Engineer to provide critical engineering leadership through construction, testing, commissioning, and ongoing facility operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide client-side MEPF technical oversight during construction, ensuring strict adherence to quality, installation standards, and operational readiness.
- Coordinate complex MEPF interfaces with civil, structural, architectural, and specialist contractor teams.
- Lead the MEPF operations team through L1 to L5 testing and integrated systems testing, including test scenario review and issue resolution.
- Take full ownership of ongoing data centre MEPF operations, covering high voltage, medium voltage, generators, UPS, precision cooling, BMS, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive operating philosophies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Method of Procedures (MOPs).
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, critical shutdowns, equipment replacements, and rapid incident response for abnormal operating conditions.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional MEPF experience, with significant background in data centres or mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrated expertise spanning construction, rigorous testing, commissioning, and operational management.
- Deep practical knowledge of Tier III or Tier IV resilient facility operations, electrical infrastructure, and HVAC systems.
- Exceptional troubleshooting, incident management, and vendor coordination capabilities.
