Petroexcel Technology Services (P) Limited is a premier engineering and procurement services organization operating globally within the oil, energy, and heavy industrial sectors. Currently, we are seeking an accomplished Structural Design Engineer to join our prestigious team for a landmark Aluminum Smelter and industrial infrastructure project based in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping robust structural frameworks for complex facilities, ensuring adherence to the highest international standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the structural design and analysis of industrial steel and reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structures for heavy industrial and metals projects.
- Design specialized facilities including Potrooms, Cast Houses, and Carbon/Anode Plants, as well as essential equipment supports, pipe racks, access platforms, and heavy foundations.
- Utilize industry-standard software such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, and AutoCAD to produce precise engineering deliverables and detailed drawings.
- Ensure all structural designs strictly comply with relevant international design codes and project-specific specifications.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and clients within an EPC project environment to resolve technical challenges and optimize designs.
- Review contractor and vendor structural submissions for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and draftspeople throughout the project lifecycle.
- Minimum of 20 years of proven professional experience in structural design engineering, with a strong focus on large-scale industrial projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing industrial, steel, and RCC structures, ideally within the aluminum smelter, metals, or heavy manufacturing sectors.
- Hands-on experience with critical plant areas including Potrooms, Cast Houses, Anode Plants, pipe racks, and heavy equipment foundations.
- Advanced proficiency in structural design software including STAAD.Pro, ETABS, and AutoCAD.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international structural design codes and standards.
- Prior experience working within an EPC contractor environment is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Master's degree and professional engineering licensure are distinct advantages.
