About the Role
Wakefield International School is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher to join our vibrant academic community. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping students' mathematical understanding while fostering a love for problem-solving and critical thinking in a dynamic, student-centered learning environment.
As a Mathematics Teacher at Wakefield International School, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that align with the curriculum, assessing student progress, and creating an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity and academic excellence. You will collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support each student's holistic development.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured mathematics lessons in line with the school curriculum
- Develop innovative teaching methods to make mathematical concepts engaging and accessible
- Assess, monitor, and record students' progress through tests, assignments, and continuous evaluation
- Provide timely feedback to students and parents on academic performance
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including WAEC, NECO, and other standardized assessments
- Maintain discipline and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school development initiatives
- Collaborate with other subject teachers to integrate cross-curricular learning
- Identify students who require additional academic support and provide appropriate interventions
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and lesson plans
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a secondary school setting
- Strong knowledge of the Nigerian curriculum and examination standards (WAEC, NECO, IGCSE is an advantage)
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to use technology and digital tools to enhance learning
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for teaching mathematics
- Professional teaching certification (TRCN) is an added advantage
