About the Role
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a leading research and policy nonprofit dedicated to discovering and promoting effective solutions to global poverty. We are currently seeking a dynamic Manager to lead an embedded evidence lab within a federal institution in Nigeria. This critical role drives a policy-relevant research agenda, enhances data and MEL systems, and builds institutional capacity to improve the coordination and impact of national social protection programmes.
Key Responsibilities- Position the lab as a trusted technical partner supporting evidence-informed decision-making within Nigeria's federal social protection ecosystem.
- Lead the design and implementation of standard operating procedures for data mapping, evidence intake, and policy-relevant research.
- Manage primary data collection and leverage large-scale administrative datasets, such as national social registries, to generate actionable insights.
- Strengthen central data infrastructure and design visualization dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel.
- Design and deliver targeted capacity-building interventions, coaching institutional staff in MEL, data analysis, and evidence-to-policy translation.
- Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Data Science, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience in social protection, poverty reduction, or public policy contexts.
- Strong expertise in quantitative and qualitative data analysis using tools such as Stata, R, Python, and Power BI.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) systems within government or development settings.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage senior government officials.
