About the Role
Aster Bloom Academy is a prestigious private educational institution located in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Following our recent rebranding from Chucklers Heights Montessori and our exciting expansion into secondary education at a newly developed permanent site, we are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Officer to join our dynamic operations team.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine inspections of school buildings, classrooms, laboratories, and recreational grounds to identify maintenance needs.
- Perform prompt repairs on plumbing, electrical fixtures, carpentry, and general school furniture.
- Supervise third-party contractors and service providers carrying out specialized facility upgrades or repairs.
- Manage inventory of maintenance tools, safety gear, and replacement parts, ensuring proper storage and procurement requisitions.
- Ensure the school environment complies with all health, safety, and environmental standards for students and staff.
- Respond swiftly to emergency maintenance requests during school hours and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules during school breaks.
- Minimum of an OND, Trade Test Certificate, or relevant vocational qualification in building technology, electrical/mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Proven working experience as a maintenance technician or facility officer, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong practical knowledge of general plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and masonry.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for safety and detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with school staff, students, and visitors.
- Must reside in or be readily able to commute to GRA, Benin City, Edo State.
