About the Role

Egbin Power Plc, Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria and stands as the largest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa. We are committed to meeting the ever-rising electricity demand in Lagos and its environs through reliable, safe, and efficient power generation. We are currently looking for a detail-oriented Local Plant Operator to join our dynamic operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct periodic patrols of assigned boilers, turbines, condensers, feedwater systems, cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Check for leaks, unusual noises, excessive vibrations, abnormal temperatures, and pressure fluctuations.
  • Operate manual field equipment such as valves, pumps, and drain or vent systems.
  • Implement plant shutdown and start-up instructions by executing field-based procedures as directed by the control room.
  • Follow strict plant safety protocols, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response procedures.
  • Record equipment status, observations, and interventions in the shift logbook and provide detailed handover reports.
  • Assist maintenance teams in preparing equipment for servicing, ensuring proper isolation and safe access.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Plant Engineering.
  • Zero to two years of experience in a power generation plant, refinery, or heavy industrial process plant.
  • Prior hands-on experience in steam turbine operations or thermal power plants is an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of power plant processes, steam cycles, and the ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to respond calmly under pressure during emergencies.
