About the Role
Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a global health nonprofit dedicated to building stronger health systems and saving lives in developing nations. We are seeking a dynamic and driven Local Capacity Strengthening/Health Workforce Development (LCSHWD) Officer to join our team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting our health workforce initiatives, assessing training needs, and fostering strategic partnerships to enhance local healthcare resilience under donor-funded projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive capacity assessments of health systems and workforces to identify gaps and inform targeted training strategies.
- Develop and adapt training modules, curricula, and capacity-building plans for diverse health cadres, including community health workers and nurses.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of training programs, national training of trainers (NTOTs), workshops, and mentorship initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Ministries of Health, local authorities, NGOs, and international stakeholders to align project activities and build sustainable partnerships.
- Provide expert technical guidance on human resources for health (HRH), program implementation, and quality improvement.
- Track training activities, maintain accurate databases, document lessons learned, and prepare detailed reports on project results.
- Support the development and review of national health policies, operational guidelines, and sustainable structures for workforce development.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management to support organizational goals.
- Bachelor's degree with 4 to 6 years of professional experience, a Master's degree with 2 to 4 years of experience, or a Doctorate with 0 to 2 years of experience in Public Health, Health Administration, International Development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in capacity building and health workforce development, ideally within NGO or public sector donor-funded projects.
- Strong working knowledge of community health worker programs, adult learning principles, monitoring and evaluation, and human resources for health.
- Exceptional communication, coordination, analytical, strategic thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with data collection and analysis, and the ability to work independently as well as within diverse teams.
- Master Trainer certification (e.g., iCCM) and experience with e-learning or digital health tools are considered strong advantages.
