About the Role
Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a global health nonprofit dedicated to closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health. For over 50 years, we have collaborated with governments, international donors, and local communities to build resilient health systems and improve access to quality healthcare. We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Local Capacity Strengthening/Health Workforce Development Officer to join our team in Nigeria, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the local health workforce for sustainable impact.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive capacity assessments of health systems and the health workforce to identify critical gaps and inform strategic training plans.
- Design, develop, and adapt training modules, curricula, and capacity-building frameworks tailored for diverse health cadres, including community health workers and nurses.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of training programs, National Training of Trainers (NTOTs), workshops, and mentorship initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Ministries of Health, local NGOs, and international stakeholders to align workforce development activities and foster robust partnerships.
- Provide expert technical guidance on Human Resources for Health (HRH), program implementation, and quality improvement strategies.
- Track training activities, maintain accurate databases, document lessons learned, and prepare detailed reports on project results.
- Support the review and development of national health policies, guidelines, and sustainable structures for continuous workforce development.
- Bachelor's degree with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 2 to 4 years of experience, or a Doctorate with 0 to 2 years of experience in Public Health, Health Administration, International Development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in capacity building and health workforce development, preferably within donor-funded NGO or public sector projects.
- Strong working knowledge of community health worker programs, adult learning principles, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), and HRH frameworks.
- Exceptional communication, coordination, analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in diverse teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and experience with digital data collection and analysis tools.
- Master Trainer certification (e.g., iCCM) and familiarity with e-learning or digital health tools are highly desirable.
