About the Role

Concern on Climate Change for the Community Initiative (FOURCi) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Livelihood Officer to join our dynamic team in Northeast Nigeria (Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states). FOURCi is a respected non-profit organization comprised of academics, environmentalists, agricultural experts, and community volunteers united in safeguarding our climate and empowering vulnerable populations. In this role, you will play a crucial part in implementing impactful livelihood and climate-smart agriculture interventions, helping communities build economic resilience while promoting environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and monitor livelihood and climate-smart agricultural projects across targeted communities in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
  • Facilitate community mobilization, sensitization, and training sessions on sustainable income-generation activities and modern agricultural practices.
  • Collaborate closely with local stakeholders, community leaders, and partner agencies to ensure successful project execution and local ownership.
  • Conduct regular field assessments, collect reliable data, and prepare comprehensive progress reports on project activities.
  • Integrate gender-sensitive approaches and protection standards into all livelihood initiatives to support vulnerable populations effectively.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation team in tracking project outputs, outcomes, and impact indicators.
Qualifications
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma in Agriculture, Economics, Environmental Science, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in livelihood programming, food security, or community development, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Strong understanding of climate-smart agriculture principles and sustainable rural livelihoods in the Nigerian context.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community-engagement skills with fluency in English and local languages spoken in Northeast Nigeria.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in challenging environments and travel frequently to field locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for effective reporting and data management.
