St. Mary the Virgin Convent, Ufuma is a prestigious Anglican secondary boarding school for girls located in Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. We are currently seeking a passionate and qualified Literature in English Teacher to join our esteemed academic community and inspire the next generation of female leaders.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and comprehensive Literature in English lessons to secondary school students in accordance with the Nigerian and West African educational curricula.
- Prepare students thoroughly for external examinations including WASSCE, NECO, and BECE.
- Foster a love for reading, critical thinking, and literary analysis through interactive classroom discussions and creative writing exercises.
- Assess, grade, and provide constructive feedback on students' assignments, essays, and examinations in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss academic development.
- Participate actively in extracurricular activities, literary clubs, and school events to promote holistic student development.
- Uphold the moral, ethical, and Christian values of the institution within and outside the classroom environment.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Literature in English, BA in English/Literature, or a related field with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant teaching experience in a reputable secondary school environment.
- Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is an added advantage.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
