About the Role
Wexford College is a premier, co-educational private secondary institution located in Akure, Ondo State, offering both day and boarding options. We are currently seeking a dynamic and organized Library Assistant to join our dedicated team and help cultivate a vibrant learning environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students and faculty in locating, accessing, and borrowing library books, periodicals, and digital resources.
- Catalog, classify, and organize library materials using modern library management systems and standard categorization methods.
- Maintain a quiet, orderly, and conducive environment for study and research within the library premises.
- Process new library acquisitions, including stamping, labeling, and entering them into the inventory database.
- Monitor the circulation desk, handling book check-outs, returns, renewals, and overdue notices efficiently.
- Support teachers with gathering resource materials to supplement classroom instruction and school projects.
- Perform routine maintenance of library books and equipment, arranging repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Possess relevant academic qualifications, such as a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a school, academic, or professional library environment is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail in managing records and inventory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and digital library management software.
