About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a qualified and dynamic professional to join our academic support team as a Librarian II (CONTISS 07). In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing library resources, facilitating cutting-edge research, and providing exceptional library and information services to our vibrant university community.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and organize physical and digital library collections, catalogs, and databases to ensure seamless user access.
- Provide reference, research, and information literacy training to students, faculty, and researchers.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of library policies, programs, and digital archiving initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic departments to align library acquisitions and resources with curriculum needs.
- Participate in library administrative duties, staff training, and community outreach programs.
- Contribute to scholarly research and academic publishing within the library and information science field.
- Possession of a Master of Library Science (M.L.S.) or a Master's degree in a related discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant teaching or professional library experience.
- At least one (1) peer-reviewed publication in a recognized academic journal.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modern library management software and digital resource platforms.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
