About the Role
Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Nigeria's premier higher institution renowned for academic excellence and innovation, is seeking a qualified, motivated, and dynamic professional to join our academic library team as a Librarian II. In this pivotal role, you will help manage a comprehensive collection of learning resources, provide exceptional reference services, and support the research needs of our 15,000 students and dedicated faculty members across multiple accredited programs.
Key Responsibilities- Catalog, classify, and organize library materials including books, journals, and digital resources using standard library classification systems.
- Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty members, and researchers, promoting effective library utilization.
- Assist in the acquisition of new library books, periodicals, and electronic database subscriptions aligned with college curricula.
- Manage circulation desk operations, including book check-ins, check-outs, renewals, and patron registration.
- Conduct information literacy training sessions and workshops for students to enhance their research and digital skills.
- Maintain library databases and ensure seamless access to online journals and e-resources.
- Collaborate with academic departments to align library collection development with institutional course requirements.
- A good Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division in Library Science (B.LS) from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Mandatory possession of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge Certificate or Exemption letter.
- Strong knowledge of modern library software, digital archiving systems, and cataloging standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a passion for customer service in an academic environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student bodies, academic staff, and administrative teams.
