About the Role

The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a premier federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a qualified and dedicated academic professional to join our esteemed Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Veterinary Medicine. As a Lecturer II, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education, conducting groundbreaking research, and mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions to undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary medicine students.
  • Develop and update course curricula in line with National Universities Commission (NUC) standards and modern veterinary practices.
  • Conduct high-impact, peer-reviewed research and contribute to academic publications in reputable journals.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects, clinical rotations, and student field work.
  • Participate in departmental, faculty, and university committee meetings and administrative duties as assigned.
  • Engage in community outreach programs and veterinary consultancy services representing the university.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a PhD or a Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
  • A First Degree in Veterinary Medicine or a related field with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division with a PhD.
  • Registration with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) with a valid practicing license.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and student-mentoring skills.
