The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal institution founded in 1970, is expanding its academic capacity and invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Lecturer II in the Department of History and International Studies. We are looking for a passionate scholar and educator dedicated to academic excellence, innovative research, and student mentorship.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and tutorials in History and International Studies at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Supervise undergraduate research projects, essays, and academic dissertations.
- Conduct high-quality, impactful research and publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals to meet departmental requirements.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings, and university committee assignments.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students to foster their holistic development and career readiness.
- Engage in community service and institutional advancement initiatives on behalf of the university.
- Must possess a PhD or a Master's degree in History, International Studies, or a closely related field.
- Candidates with a Master's degree require a minimum of three (3) years of university teaching experience and at least three (3) peer-reviewed publications.
- A First Degree with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division is required, OR a Second-Class Lower Division combined with a PhD.
- Demonstrated proficiency in academic research, grant writing, and modern pedagogical techniques.
