About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a premier federal university in Nigeria, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to join our academic community as a Lecturer II in the Department of Communication and Media Studies. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of media professionals through innovative teaching, curriculum delivery, and impactful research in film and multi-media production.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures and practical training in Film and Multi-Media Studies to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Develop and update course materials in alignment with National Universities Commission (NUC) standards and modern media industry trends.
- Supervise undergraduate research projects, student films, and multimedia portfolios.
- Conduct high-quality academic research and publish peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committee meetings and administrative duties.
- Mentor students and provide academic advising to foster professional growth and ethical standards.
- Must possess a First Degree with a minimum of Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division alongside a PhD.
- Must hold a PhD or a Master Degree in Film Studies, Multi-Media Studies, Mass Communication, or a closely related field.
- For candidates with a Master Degree, a minimum of three (3) years of tertiary teaching experience is required, along with a minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed publications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modern digital filmmaking, video editing, and multimedia software is a strong advantage.
