About the Role

Located in Benin City, Edo State, our Faculty of Computing is currently expanding and seeking a passionate, tech-driven academic to join our vibrant scholarly community as a Lecturer II in Data Science. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering world-class education, mentoring ambitious students, and contributing to cutting-edge research that addresses national and global technological challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, practical laboratory sessions, and seminars in Data Science and related computing disciplines at the undergraduate level.
- Design, update, and develop curriculum content that aligns with modern industry standards and academic benchmarks.
- Supervise undergraduate student research projects, dissertations, and academic fieldworks.
- Conduct high-quality, impactful research and publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed, reputable journals.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees, meetings, and community service initiatives.
- Advise and mentor students on academic progress, career pathways, and moral development in line with the university core values.
- Possess a PhD Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related relevant discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of cognate university teaching or research experience.
- Provide verifiable evidence of scholarly potential, continuing research, and relevant academic publications.
- Demonstrate high proficiency in ICT, modern digital teaching tools, and data science software or programming languages.
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to work effectively within a diverse academic environment.
- Hold current professional memberships or valid practising licenses where applicable to the computing and IT profession.
