About the Role
Federal University Lafia, established in February 2011 to expand access to high-quality tertiary education in Nigeria, is seeking a dedicated and passionate professional to join its esteemed academic community as a Lecturer II in Community Medicine. Located in Lafia, Nasarawa State, our institution is rapidly growing and currently boasts a robust College of Medicine, multiple faculties, and a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes committed to impactful teaching and research.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in Community Medicine to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
- Design, update, and evaluate course curricula in alignment with National Universities Commission (NUC) standards and medical education best practices.
- Conduct high-impact research, publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to the academic advancement of the department.
- Supervise undergraduate student research projects, fieldwork, and community-based medical postings.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university committees, as well as community outreach and public health initiatives.
- Provide academic advising, mentoring, and career guidance to students within the College of Medicine.
- Must possess a Ph.D. degree in Community Medicine or a closely relevant field from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Alternatively, candidates with a relevant Master's degree, a minimum of two (2) journal publications, and at least three (3) years of post-qualification teaching and research experience at the university level may apply.
- Demonstrated track record of academic research and publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills suited for an academic environment.
- Registration with the relevant professional medical regulatory body in Nigeria where applicable.
