About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal tertiary institution founded in 1970, is seeking a qualified and passionate academic professional to join our esteemed Faculty of Law as a Lecturer II in Commercial and Industrial Law. In this role, you will contribute to our rich academic tradition by delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate instruction, conducting impactful legal research, and shaping the next generation of legal practitioners in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Commercial and Industrial Law and related legal subjects.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and theses.
- Conduct high-impact, peer-reviewed research and publish scholarly articles in reputable local and international law journals.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings, and faculty committee assignments.
- Provide academic advising, mentorship, and career guidance to law students.
- Engage in community service and university outreach programs that advance legal education and practice.
- A First Degree in Law (LL.B) with a minimum of a Second Class Upper Division, or a Second Class Lower Division combined with a relevant PhD.
- A Master of Laws (LL.M) degree or a PhD in Commercial and Industrial Law or a closely related field.
- At least three (3) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level.
- A minimum of three (3) quality peer-reviewed academic publications in recognized journals.
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial litigation, corporate governance, labor law, or industrial relations.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies, such as the Nigerian Bar Association, is an added advantage.
