About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a prestigious federal institution committed to academic excellence, innovative research, and producing world-class graduates. We are currently expanding our Department of Optometry and looking for a dedicated Senior Lecturer specializing in Primary Care and Paediatric Optometry to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in Primary Care and Paediatric Optometry to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise student research projects, clinical training, and dissertations at various academic levels.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings, and faculty committee assignments.
- Contribute to community outreach programs and clinical services provided by the university.
- A First Degree in Optometry or a related field with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division with a PhD.
- Must possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Optometry or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
- A proven track record of a minimum of eight (8) quality peer-reviewed academic publications.
- Demonstrated expertise in clinical instruction relating to primary care and paediatric optometric practices.
