About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a qualified and dynamic academic to join its Department of Communication and Media Studies. We are looking for a dedicated Lecturer II (Broadcasting) who is passionate about higher education, media theory, and practical broadcasting, contributing to our vibrant academic community in Benin City, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical training in broadcasting and allied mass communication courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Develop and update curriculum materials, lesson plans, and laboratory instruction manuals in line with NUC guidelines and industry standards.
- Conduct high-quality, peer-reviewed research and publish findings in reputable local and international academic journals.
- Supervise undergraduate student projects, research dissertations, and academic field assignments.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide administrative duties, committees, and community service initiatives.
- Mentor and advise students on academic progress, career development, and professional ethics in media practice.
- Possession of a First Degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division, or a Second Class Lower Division coupled with a PhD in Mass Communication, Broadcasting, or a closely related field.
- Must hold a PhD or a Master's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of tertiary-level teaching experience.
- A proven academic track record with a minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed publications in recognized academic journals.
- Demonstrated expertise in broadcast journalism, production, electronic media, or digital communication technologies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and digital literacy skills suitable for modern academic environments.
