The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is seeking a qualified and motivated Lecturer II to join our vibrant Department of Life Science within the Faculty of Life Sciences. We are looking for an enthusiastic academic professional to contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs, mentor students, and drive impactful research initiatives in Biochemistry.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical laboratory sessions in Biochemistry to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Design, update, and develop curriculum content in alignment with National Universities Commission (NUC) standards and modern scientific advancements.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and academic theses.
- Conduct high-quality, peer-reviewed research in Biochemistry and publish findings in reputable local and international academic journals.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university committee meetings, administrative duties, and community service initiatives.
- Mentor and advise students on academic progress, career pathways, and personal development within the sciences.
- A Ph.D. or Master's degree in Biochemistry or a closely related discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
- Must possess a First Degree with a minimum of a Second Class Upper Division, or a Second Class Lower Division coupled with a Ph.D.
- At least three (3) years of relevant teaching and research experience at a tertiary education institution.
- A minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modern pedagogical methods, laboratory techniques, and academic research software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills suited for an academic environment.
