About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a prestigious federal institution renowned for academic excellence and groundbreaking research in Nigeria. We are currently seeking a dynamic and qualified professional to fill the role of Lecturer I in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, specifically focusing on Veterinary Parasitology. In this academic role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of veterinary professionals through rigorous instruction, hands-on laboratory sessions, and impactful research initiatives within our vibrant academic community in Benin City, Edo State.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures and practical training in Veterinary Parasitology to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Develop and update curriculum materials, course outlines, and instructional resources in line with National Universities Commission (NUC) standards.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and field praktikums.
- Conduct high-quality, peer-reviewed research and publish findings in reputable local and international academic journals.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees, administrative duties, and community service initiatives.
- Mentor students and provide academic guidance to foster their professional and personal development.
- Possession of a PhD or a Master's degree in Veterinary Parasitology or a closely related discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
- Must possess a First Degree with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division combined with a PhD.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
- Proven track record of at least three (3) peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills with a collaborative approach to academia.
