About the Role

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a premier federal university committed to academic excellence, innovative research, and producing world-class graduates. We are currently looking for a qualified and passionate academic professional to fill the position of Lecturer I within the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering high-quality instruction, mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students, and contributing significantly to cutting-edge research in materials science and metallurgy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
  • Develop, update, and review curricula in alignment with National Universities Commission (NUC) standards and industry demands.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects, student industrial work experience (SIWES), and postgraduate theses.
  • Conduct impactful, peer-reviewed research and publish findings in reputable local and international academic journals.
  • Participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide administrative duties, committees, and community service initiatives.
  • Mentor students academically and professionally to foster a culture of innovation and integrity.

Qualifications
  • Possession of a First Degree (Bachelor's) in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division. Candidates with a Second-Class Lower Division must hold a PhD.
  • A PhD or Master's degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from a recognized and accredited university.
  • At least three (3) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level.
  • A minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed academic publications in reputable journals.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in modern pedagogical methods and engineering software tools.
