About the Role
Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Nigeria's premier higher institution, is seeking a dedicated and experienced academic professional to join our prestigious School of Engineering as a Lecturer I in Mechatronics Engineering. In this role, you will contribute to our rich legacy of excellence by instructing students, conducting cutting-edge research, and fostering industry linkages within a vibrant academic community of 15,000 students and 1,600 staff members.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Lecturer I, your core responsibilities will encompass teaching, research, and institutional development within the Department of Mechatronics Engineering.
- Deliver engaging lectures, practical laboratory sessions, and tutorials for National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), and relevant postgraduate programs.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, research dissertations, and industrial training attachments.
- Develop and update curriculum content in line with modern technological advancements and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) standards.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and academic textbooks.
- Participate in departmental, school, and college-wide committees, accreditation exercises, and community development initiatives.
- Mentor students and provide academic advising to foster holistic professional and personal growth.
Candidates must meet one of the following academic and publication requirements:
- A Doctorate degree in Mechatronics Engineering or a closely related discipline, with at least three (3) years of teaching, research, or relevant industrial experience. Candidates must also provide three (3) conference/seminar papers, three (3) journal articles, and at least one (1) chapter contribution in a standard textbook (minimum ten chapters) published within the last four years.
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline, with at least six (6) years of teaching, research, or relevant industrial experience, accompanied by the same publication requirements (three conference papers, three journal articles, and one textbook chapter published within the last four years).
- Serving Lecturer II personnel with a minimum of three (3) years of satisfactory service in the rank, alongside the stipulated publication criteria.
