About the Role
Scruples Resources is a leading consultancy and human resource provider in Nigeria, currently seeking an experienced Lead Painting and Grit Blasting Services professional. In this critical role, you will oversee surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and protective coating activities across industrial projects. You will ensure that all operations meet strict quality, safety, and environmental standards while managing a dedicated team of technicians and subcontractors in demanding environments such as oil and gas, manufacturing, and construction.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise surface preparation, abrasive grit blasting, and industrial coating application in accordance with approved project procedures.
- Review coating specifications, engineering drawings, work packs, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) before project execution.
- Verify surface cleanliness and profile using recognized standards such as SSPC, NACE, and ISO 8501.
- Monitor environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, dew point, and surface temperature prior to coating application.
- Oversee the correct mixing, application, and curing of primers, intermediate coats, and specialized protective coatings.
- Measure wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT) to ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
- Enforce rigorous HSE protocols, conducting toolbox talks and ensuring strict adherence to Permit to Work (PTW) and PPE requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive daily progress reports, inspection records, and material reconciliation documentation.
- OND, HND, or technical certification in Coating Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- Proven professional experience in industrial painting, abrasive blasting, and protective coatings, preferably within the Nigerian oil and gas sector.
- Strong supervisory experience managing painting and blasting crews, technicians, and third-party subcontractors.
- Familiarity with coating inspection standards and equipment such as DFT gauges, surface-profile gauges, and dew-point meters.
- Relevant professional certifications such as AMPP or NACE Coating Inspector will be considered a strong advantage.
