About the Role
Scruples Resources, a premier provider of consultancy and human resource solutions for the Nigerian economy, is seeking an experienced Nitrogen Purging Supervisor for continuous 24-hour operations. In this critical role, you will oversee nitrogen purging and inerting activities across pipelines, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and complex process systems within the oil and gas sector. You will lead field teams, enforce stringent HSE standards, and ensure all operations adhere to approved procedures, maintaining safety and integrity in demanding industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise round-the-clock nitrogen purging and pressure testing operations for pipelines, vessels, and process equipment.
- Review P&IDs, line lists, isolation plans, and test packages prior to project execution.
- Monitor oxygen levels, atmospheric conditions, and gas concentrations using calibrated detection equipment.
- Control nitrogen injection pressures, flow rates, and concentration limits to prevent equipment damage.
- Enforce strict Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO, and confined-space safety protocols.
- Coordinate seamlessly with operations, mechanical, commissioning, and QA/QC personnel across shift handovers.
- Inspect nitrogen cylinders, vaporizers, manifolds, and hoses to confirm fitness for service.
- Manage exclusion zones, safe venting procedures, and proper hazard communication.
- Prepare comprehensive daily operational reports, shift handover notes, and completion documentation.
- HND, OND, or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Process Operations, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in nitrogen purging, commissioning, plant operations, or shutdowns within the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
- Deep practical knowledge of inerting operations, pressure systems, and hydrocarbon hazards.
- Strong expertise in Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and gas testing procedures.
- Ability to interpret complex P&IDs, line diagrams, and engineering schematics.
