About the Role
Desicon Engineering Limited, a premier ISO-certified EPC industry leader in Nigeria, is seeking a technically proficient and results-driven Lead Electrical Engineer to direct our Electrical Engineering and Design Unit. For over 40 years, we have delivered innovative engineering solutions across the Nigerian energy sector, operating as the first indigenous company with a fully equipped Electrical and Instrumentation facility. In this pivotal role, you will champion technical excellence, mentor junior engineers, and drive project success from conception to completion.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Electrical Engineering and Design Unit, coordinating all engineering activities and deliverables across diverse energy and infrastructure projects.
- Develop discipline scopes of work, design basis documents, technical specifications, resource plans, and accurate man-hour estimates.
- Perform and review complex electrical engineering calculations, including load assessments, short-circuit studies, and protection coordination using industry software.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations, review vendor offers, and prepare comprehensive Technical Bid Analysis reports.
- Manage electrical engineering budgets, monitor material quantities, control project costs, and track schedule performance against key performance indicators.
- Coordinate seamlessly with clients, Project Management Consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical queries and secure approvals.
- Lead vendor kick-off meetings, design reviews, and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.
- Identify value engineering and design optimization strategies while ensuring strict compliance with safety, quality, and technical integrity standards.
- Mentor junior engineers, foster technical knowledge sharing, and implement continuous improvement initiatives based on lessons learned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Extensive professional experience in electrical engineering design within the oil and gas, EPC, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing electrical engineering teams and multidisciplinary project deliverables.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical design calculations, international codes and standards, and relevant engineering software.
- Proven track record in vendor evaluation, technical bid analysis, design reviews, and client-facing stakeholder management.
