About the Role

Jaza Energy, the last mile energy company building solar charging stations and renting batteries in off-grid communities, is seeking a skilled Commissioning Technician based in Umuahia, Abia. In this role, you will own the technical operations involved in our expansion process into new sites, reporting directly to the Commissioning Team Lead to ensure all solar installations meet our rigorous pre-defined standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare pre-departure checklists for required tools, items, and technical equipment for allocated site commissioning.
  • Install and commission solar technical equipment by strictly following established guidelines and documentation.
  • Set up new sites accurately within the Star App, Dashboard, and Dataverse prior to regional handover.
  • File, update, track, and escalate technical issues efficiently using Gitlab.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting for pre-golive hub performance issues and travel on-site for physical repairs as needed.
  • Verify charge rates to ensure working Jaza packs are available for successful go-live events.
  • Maintain 100% connectivity and accurate equipment inventory records during the commissioning phase.
  • Test new firmware and products, and collaborate seamlessly with regional tech, supply chain, and construction teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of engineering or technical experience in the energy, telecommunications, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in PV system design, solar installations, and electrical maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a steadfast commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote off-grid locations and work independently.
