About the Role
St. Columbanus Secondary School (SCOSSI), a prominent co-educational Catholic mission boarding school located in Ikwen, Obot Akara LGA, Akwa Ibom State, is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Labourer with specialized experience as a Lawn Mower Operator. Founded in 1959, our institution combines academic excellence with strong moral values. We are looking for an industrious individual to ensure our campus grounds remain safe, clean, and visually appealing for our students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, maneuver, and maintain commercial lawn mowers, trimmers, and other groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform regular grass cutting, hedge trimming, weed control, and general landscaping duties across the school compound.
- Conduct routine maintenance and basic servicing of lawn mowers and gardening tools to ensure optimal working condition.
- Clear walkways, sports fields, and drainage paths of debris, fallen leaves, and overgrown vegetation.
- Assist with general manual labour tasks around the school premises as assigned by facility management.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during operations.
- Proven experience operating lawn mowers and other landscaping machinery.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor tool repairs and daily equipment maintenance.
- Good understanding of safety guidelines regarding power tool operation.
- Ability to follow instructions diligently and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to Obot Akara or surrounding areas in Akwa Ibom State is an advantage.
