About the Role
The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) is looking for a dedicated and skilled Laboratory Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. Key Responsibilities- Conduct accurate laboratory tests, including nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, blood biochemistry, and haematology, following strict protocols.
- Receive, process, and securely store biological samples in compliance with established safety and biobank guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to quality control procedures and maintain proper documentation in compliance with GCP guidelines.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, calibration, and timely troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Supervise temperature monitoring of laboratory spaces, refrigerators, and freezers, documenting any alarms promptly.
- Manage the inventory of laboratory consumables, reagents, and items for the VHF Laboratory.
- Ensure safe handling and proper disposal of infectious materials and biohazardous waste.
- Prepare biological samples for pickup and shipment in compliance with transport regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) with specialization in Haematology, Chemical Pathology, and Medical Microbiology.
- Valid registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Proven research and laboratory experience, specifically with PCR techniques and blood processing.
- Prior working experience in Ebola, Lassa Fever, or other viral hemorrhagic fever outbreaks is highly advantageous.
- Previous experience working with international medical NGOs in developing countries.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data management software.
