About the Role
BeaconHealth Diagnostics is revolutionizing diagnostic care in Nigeria, and we are looking for a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our clinic operations team in Umuahia. In this vital role, you will run the laboratory that referring clinicians depend on for accurate diagnoses and patient treatments, utilizing our proprietary digital platform, BeaconOS, to ensure seamless reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Take responsibility for specimen collection, receipt, sorting, and proper labelling for laboratory processing.
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic tests across chemistry, haematology, urinalysis, coagulation, immunology, microbiology, and toxicology.
- Assess result validity, record findings confidentially in BeaconOS, and immediately communicate abnormal conditions to clinicians or the pathologist.
- Maintain quality control by running standards, calibrating equipment, and adhering strictly to safety and legal requirements.
- Supervise and mentor Laboratory Technicians while ensuring a welcoming, professional experience for every patient.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science with a current practising licence from the MLSCN.
- Completed or exempted from the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-licence experience working in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated competence across at least two core disciplines such as chemistry, haematology, microbiology, or immunology.
- Strong computer literacy and a rigorous, detail-oriented approach to documentation and quality control.
