About the Role
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), a prestigious public institution renowned for its rich tradition of academic excellence and research innovation, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lab Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. In this vital role, you will oversee daily laboratory operations, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and provide technical support to students and academic staff.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily laboratory activities and ensure a safe, clean, and organized working environment for all students and researchers.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments to guarantee optimal performance and accuracy.
- Manage inventory levels of chemical reagents, consumables, and safety gear, initiating timely procurement requests.
- Enforce strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the laboratory spaces.
- Assist academic staff and students in conducting practical experiments, demonstrations, and research projects.
- Train junior laboratory technicians and students on proper equipment handling and experimental procedures.
- Possession of five O'Level credit passes at not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, and two relevant Science subjects.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience working in a recognized academic or research laboratory.
- Must hold a recognized, prescribed proficiency certification in laboratory management or a related technical discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of laboratory safety standards, hazardous waste disposal, and equipment maintenance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
